
Dan Barringer, architect, leed ap
With over 17 years as an NCARB registered architect, Dan Barringer is experienced in all aspects of architecture from design concepts through construction administration. Over the past 24 years, Dan’s extensive talents have been reflected in projects ranging from the Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport in China, to Corporate Hill II interiors in Columbus, to Giammarco’s Italian Restaurant in Genoa Township.
The primary focus of Dan’s architectural practice is the development and application of computer-aided electronic media towards architectural design, presentation and the production of construction documentation. To achieve these goals Dan’s knowledge of technology continually grows both of integrated systems for buildings and software for the creation of documents such as Autodesk’s Revit. An underling theme of Dan’s beliefs is the importance of sustainable building practices and the development of advanced building materials. Dan Barringer has devoted his personal time to the U.S. Green Building Council – Central Ohio Chapter as a Board Member and Treasurer, to further Dan’s belief that we can transform the way buildings and communities are designed, built and operated.
Dan Barringer’s professional experience includes employment with Skidmore, Owings & Merrill in Chicago as both part of the architecture design studios and a team member for the development of IBM’s Architectural and Design Series CAD software. His employment with URS in Columbus, Ellerbe Beckett in Minneapolis and SEH Architectural in St. Cloud continued his implementation and integration of computer technology in architecture.
Today, Dan Barringer’s works for ms consultants focusing on commercial and public projects to improve the environment we live in. Dan’s extends his professional experience on emerging technology in sustainable (green) markets. RenderSpec is Dan’s venture to broaden the current advancements in the processes of design. RenderSpec provides architects with the necessary components for Building Integration Modeling, BIM; linking concept modeling with final construction documents.
Dan Barringer’s educational background is centered in the American Midwest, with Dan’s Bachelors of Science from the School of Architecture and Urban Design at the University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee in 1986 and Dan’s Masters in Architecture from the University of Minnesota in 1993. Dan’s interests in architecture has taken him to further his studies throughout North America, Spain, Greece, Italy, France, United Kingdom, Germany, China and New Zealand in order to gain knowledge of architectural practices.
Through Dan’s active involvement in the profession and the community Dan believes his experience can assist clients in achieving their goals.
